OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) coverage is an additional auto insurance endorsement providing original manufacturer parts used in any repairs. Ensuring that aftermarket replacement parts won’t be used to repair your vehicle, this coverage is only available on vehicles 10 years old or less.
While OEM coverage is an additional level of coverage; you must have comprehensive and collision coverage to add this option. If you don’t select OEM coverage,, the body shop may use what’s called an aftermarket part when repairing your vehicle. Aftermarket parts are basically parts that are not sourced from the car’s maker.
